Here in Wisconsin, we don’t go Back to School until on or after September 1 . . . this year it’s not until September 5 (thanks to Labor Day)!! But since many are already back in session I am trying to get this post out before it’s too late!
My Favorite Book
Peanut Butter & Cupcake by Terry Border is such an adorable book AND it’s perfect for starting a discussion on being a good friend. This can be done any time of the year, but I think it has a special place at during Back to School when you are setting all the ground rules and talking about how to treat one another.
I revamped this activity over the summer to add a few partner activities AND a new craft. This is the perfect little activity to have students do and get to know each other. I would partner them up and not let them pick their own friends-that way they have to learn about someone new!
There are also a bunch of graphic organizers to use along with the book. These are a great way to ease back in to the routine of school. I love the Find-a-Friend activity in particular because it is a great way to get the class moving and talking to EVERYONE in class.
